‘Varisu’ and ‘Thunivu’ are the only two Tamil films that were released in theatres this month. Being the first month of a new year, the two big films clashed at the box office as Pongal release and both the films have now made a box office collection of more than Rs 210 crore each. As ‘Varisu’ and ‘Thunivu’ had huge buzz, Tamil movie makers have not planned for any release until next month. However, the Bollywood movie ‘Pathaan’ featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham has been released in theatres today, January 25.
The movie has been released in both Tamil and Hindi in Chennai and movie audiences are eager to watch the action film. According to reports, theatres had to reduce the number of shows of ‘Varisu’ and ‘Thunivu’ with ‘Pathaan’s release today. Trade experts and analysts reportedly suggest that the Shah Rukh Khan starrer has been allotted more screens as the film is available in both Hindi and Tamil.
